Choose tile or plank flooring.2. Enter the measured project area in square metres.3. Add the product length and width shown on the pack.4. Select the layout and enter the joint or gap width.5. Set a base waste allowance, pieces per box and price per box.The result updates automatically. Order quantities are rounded up to whole pieces and then whole boxes.## Calculation methodThe calculator converts the piece dimensions and gap into a module area. It divides the project area by that module area, rounds up, then adds the base waste allowance plus a layout allowance:- Straight or running bond: no additional layout allowance- Diagonal: 5 percentage points- Herringbone: 10 percentage pointsThe adjusted piece count is rounded up to the next full box. Material cost equals full boxes multiplied by price per box.For tile, the grout estimate uses the calculated joint share and assumes a 10 mm joint depth. For plank flooring, underlay area includes the selected base waste allowance.## Before orderingThis tool provides a planning estimate. Room shape, cuts, breakage, tile calibration, manufacturer pack coverage, grout depth, installation method and underlay roll sizes can change the final quantity. The calculator adds a separate allowance for diagonal and herringbone layouts.### Why does the calculator round up twice?Individual pieces cannot be purchased fractionally, and most products are sold only in full boxes. Rounding both stages avoids under-ordering.### Is the grout result a purchase quantity?No. It is an approximate volume based on joint geometry and a 10 mm depth. Use the grout manufacturer's coverage table for the final bag quantity.
